# Cookie Policy

> The cookies and device storage Shortif uses, what each one is for, and how to remove them.

## In short

Shortif uses a few of its own cookies and the browser's local storage to run the app, keep you signed in and count views. There are no advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

## Cookies

- md_vid and md_vid_pub: a random visitor id, up to 400 days. Used to count views and sessions.
- shortif_session (and its _browser and _guest companions): keeps you signed in, up to 180 days. A short-lived cookie is also set for about 15 minutes while you sign in with Google.
- shortif_lang: your language choice, 1 year.

## Storage on your device

- Your progress, list, history and settings, so the app opens where you left off and can sync them.
- A copy of the visitor id, and a queue of viewing events waiting to be sent.
- Small notes such as sound on/off, whether the install tip was shown, the last ad break and sign-in state shared between tabs.
- A cache of the app and its font, so it opens fast and works offline. Videos are never cached.

## Third parties

The web font is loaded from Google Fonts, which sees your IP address. If you sign in with Google, Google sets its own cookies on its site. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, may set a cookie to protect the site from attacks. We do not control these.

## Your choices

You can block or delete cookies and site data in your browser settings. Shortif still plays, but your progress and sign-in may not be kept. More in the [Privacy Policy](https://shortif.com/privacy).
