> What Shortif collects, why, who helps us run it, how long we keep it and how to use your rights.

## Who we are

Shortif is run by [Company legal name], [Address] (“we”). We are responsible for the personal data described here. Questions or requests: [contact email]. This policy was last updated on [Effective date].

## Watching without an account

You can watch without signing up. When you first play an episode, Shortif creates a guest account with no name or email, so your progress can be kept.

## What we collect

- A random visitor id, set in a cookie when you first open Shortif, and a session id. They are not linked to your name.
- How you arrived: the page address you landed on, the referring site, campaign tags in the link (such as utm_source) and ad click ids if the link had one, and your browser's user agent.
- Viewing events: which series and episode played, for how long, and app taps such as play, pause, swipe or share, keyed to the visitor id.
- Your account data: a guest account id; your progress, list, history and settings (autoplay, notifications, language, genres), so they follow you between devices.
- Your wallet: coins, VIP status and which episodes you unlocked. Shortif does not take payments, so we hold no card or bank details.
- If you choose “Save progress with Google”: your Google account's name and email address.
- Your IP address, which our servers and our hosting provider see on every request, used for security and rate limits.

## Why we use it

- To run the service: play episodes, keep your progress, unlock episodes and sign you in (needed to provide the service you asked for).
- To count views, fix problems and understand which series people enjoy (our legitimate interest in running and improving Shortif).
- To keep Shortif secure and stop abuse (our legitimate interest).

We do not sell your personal data and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. Shortif has no third-party advertising or tracking pixels. We do not use AI to make decisions about you.

## Who helps us run Shortif

- Supabase: runs sign-in for guest and Google accounts.
- Google: only if you choose to sign in with Google, and to deliver the web font the site uses (your browser asks Google's font servers for it, which shows them your IP address).
- Cloudflare: delivers the site and protects it; all traffic passes through its network.
- Our own servers store the viewing events and account data; our dashboards read them internally.

We may also disclose data if the law requires it, or to a buyer if Shortif is sold, under this policy.

## How long we keep it

- The visitor cookie lasts up to 400 days; the sign-in cookie up to 180 days.
- Viewing events and account data are kept while Shortif needs them to run and improve the service, then deleted or made anonymous. [Retention period]
- Data on your device stays until you clear it.

## Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK, Israel or California), you can ask to see, correct, delete or download your data, object to or restrict how we use it, and complain to your data protection authority. Email [contact email]; we answer within 30 days. We will not treat you differently for using your rights. Cookies and device storage are explained in the [Cookie Policy](https://shortif.com/cookies).

## Your choices

- Sign out from Profile at any time. Your progress stays on the device.
- Clearing this site's data in your browser removes everything stored on the device and gives you a new visitor id.
- Notifications are off unless you switch them on in Profile → Settings.

## Children

Shortif is not meant for children under 13 (under 16 in the EU), and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has given us data, write to [contact email] and we will delete it.

## International transfers

Our providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where the law requires it, we rely on safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

## Changes

If we change this policy, we update the date above, and tell you in the app for important changes.
